PayiQ has delivered a complete public transport ticketing system to Ålandstrafiken.

PayiQ won the tender for Åland’s public transport ticketing system in early 2026 and already on April 30th the system was successfully delivered and launched. The solution includes bus devices by hardware partner Octanova, ticketing and travel card backend and mobile app for ticket purchase.

For the first time, Ålandstrafiken’s customers can purchase and use tickets directly through a mobile app. With PayiQ Tickets residents and visitors can now buy single, series and season tickets on their smartphone and travel more conveniently with a user-friendly digital ticketing solution.

The new app also makes it easier to manage existing travel cards. Customers no longer need to visit a service point to top up their travel cards, as this can now be done directly in the app.
