PayiQ and UDT Technologies have signed a letter of intent and plan to jointly develop components for a new urban mode of transport, with the first installation targeted in Lahti.
Fare collection solution provider PayiQ and automated urban logistics developer UDT Technologies have started collaboration. The companies have identified potential synergy and mutual benefits of closer cooperation. Their joint aim is to seek growth both in domestic and international markets.
UDT Technologies develops an air track system that complements existing transport systems. Air track and its passenger capsules offer a travel experience that equals private cars when it comes to comfort. Passengers can board the fast and user-friendly capsule at any time of the day and get safely and efficiently to their destination. UDT Technologies is planning to pilot their emission-free system in Lahti and aims for public service for the 2029 Nordic World Ski Championships. Automated public transportation connection between the Transportation hub, Lahti sports center and city center has been identified to have a high value. Co-operation between UDT and PayiQ will target to define jointly developed services in this specific location and beyond. PayiQ has already been developing public transport ticketing apps for more than 10 years and they are used in 100 locations in Finland, including Lahti.
“While we are creating the super-efficient part of public and shared transportation the ticketing system is one of the core elements. We believe the knowledge, skills and services of PayiQ will strengthen our offering for the public transportation segment. Both of our intentions are to be present in global markets, which is a perfect fit. Integration into traditional already built cities and their services are in our deepest desires. We offer seamless and easy to adopt new ways to travel for citizens. Once project is completed, it will be a benchmark for future transit, attracting attention worldwide” states Jussi Niemioja, Innovation director of UDT Technologies.
“We are excited to start co-operation with the UDT Technologies. PayiQ is dedicated to helping cities reach carbon neutrality goals and UDT Technologies have the same goal with their innovative and sustainable air track system. We see that the companies are a good match for promoting environment-friendly public transport internationally” says PayiQ’s CEO Elena Lipchenko
