PayiQ continues its expansion to Russia by launching PayiQ Tickets for Saint Petersburg tram.
PayiQ’s award-winning mobile ticketing service is now available for the users of Saint Petersburg’s tram route 100. Customers can buy and use tickets with PayiQ Tickets mobile app which is freely available for Android and iPhone users. Route 100 is the most popular and innovative route in Saint Petersburg. It uses low-floor trams and has a new green wave traffic light control system. Last year it transported almost 16 million passengers.
“Transport Committee of St. Petersburg Government chose PayiQ’s solution as it fits our need for an easy-to-use mobile payment method. We are piloting PayiQ’s QR code sticker solution first on the vehicles of SPb GUP GorElectotrans (GET) and are also considering further piloting on the busses of SPb GUP Passazhiravtotrans (PAT). Deputy MD of PAT Vladimir Ishkov is interested in visiting Turku to see the existing solution in use and has confirmed his interest to implement PayiQ solution on several PAT’s routes” says Alexander Kleimyonov, Head of Department of Development and Innovative Technologies on Transport.
“We are excited to release PayiQ Tickets in Saint Petersburg. Our app has been in use in Moscow Metro since last summer and expansion to Saint Petersburg is a major development for us” says Tuomo Parjanen, the CEO of PayiQ, and continues: “Our cloud-based technology enables an easy transition from traditional tickets to dynamic products and services. PayiQ Tickets differs greatly from traditional, separate ticket applications. It offers our clients a complete solution without expensive product development and maintenance costs. With PayiQ Tickets our clients can move to a mobile era with unforeseen swiftness. Its key benefits to customers are its easiness and simplicity, everything can be handled with a mobile phone.”
