Starting from September the customers of Jyväskylä region public transport can buy their bus tickets mobile. Buying tickets with a smart phone application is easy, fast and secure.
“Our goal is to develop local traffic in the long-term and to take into use new services that make everyday life easier for the passengers. One of the most sought after service has been mobile ticket, which clearly meets the needs of modern passengers.” says Kari Ström, the Service Manager in charge of Jyväskylä city’s public traffic. At first the ticket selection of the mobile app includes single and day tickets for zones A, B and C. With new technology it is easy to add new tickets options and to widen the selection.
Jyväskylä introduced mobile tickets in a very fast schedule. Need for a versatile and flexible payment method arose because paying with bank and credit cards was no longer possible in the local traffic buses. The new mobile application supports all the most common payment methods: mobile payment, bank and credit cards and consolidated invoicing with Svea billing.
Jyväskylä region public traffic’s app is free and it is first available for Android and iOS phones and later for Windows phones too.
“Cloud-based Mobility as a Service (MaaS) is an internationally growing megatrend in the digitalization of transport. MaaS means that users are able to easily combine different mobility modes and services with the help of new technologies. New technologies like Microsoft Azure open up unforeseen possibilities to combine different services and to create wholly new service concepts. Our new PayiQ® service makes it possible to move over from traditional travel cards to dynamic ticketing services and products.” tells Tuomo Parjanen, the CEO of PayiQ.
