The selection of Föli app’s services got bigger in October as travel cards can be loaded using mobile phones. There is no need to carry a separate travel card anymore, all the ticket services can now be found on your smartphone.
The Föli app of Turku region traffic is the first in the world to offer mobile loading of travel cards. You can use the app to load Föli value card or to purchase season tickets. You can choose from three options when loading your value card: €10, € 20 or €30. The option of purchasing 30-, 90- and 180-day season tickets is initially limited to specific customer groups. You can also use the application to extend the duration of your season ticket. The service is continuously being developed and new customer groups will be gradually added. The Föli app is free and available for Android, iOS and Windows phones.
“Mobile loading of travel cards was piloted last spring and it has been a much sought after addition to Föli’s product selection. Turku wants to be the forerunner of offering mobile ticketing services.” says Sirpa Korte, Public Transport Director at city of Turku. Föli app has already been use for a couple of years and the app can also be used to purchase single and travel tickets. In addition to Turku, the tickets are also valid in the urban areas of Kaarina, Lieto, Naantali, Raisio and Rusko. The app supports all the most common payment methods: mobile payment, bank and credit cards and consolidated invoicing with Svea billing.
“Our PayiQ® technology, that uses technologies like Microsoft Azure cloud-based services, makes it possible to move over from traditional travel cards to dynamic ticketing services and products. With our technology adding new services is easy and flexible.” tells Tuomo Parjanen, the CEO of PayiQ. “Mobile tickets are a part of an international MaaS (Moblility as a Service) trend which aims at offering users an easy and safe way to combine different mobility modes and services with the help of new technologies. We have expanded our operations abroad and we hope that mobile loading of travel cards becomes possible there too, for example in Russia.”
