Lappeenranta Takes Mobile Bus Tickets into Use

Lappeenranta joins the rapidly expanding PayiQ Tickets ticketing service this spring. The new generation mobile ticket is an economical and easy way to use public traffic in different parts of Finland.

Lappeenranta has decided to make traveling on buses easier and faster by adding to their ticket selection a mobile ticket that can be bought with a smart phone.

“At first mobile payment can only be used on local traffic routes but our goal is that later on this service covers all of Lappeenranta’s public traffic. Our pricing policy is that buying tickets with a smart phone is always cheaper than buying a single ticket. This new payment method is especially useful to people who use public traffic sporadically.” says Pasi Leimi, City Engineer at City of Lappeenranta.

Mobile tickets are bought with PayiQ Tickets app that can be downloaded for free for smart phones from Google Play and App Store. The mobile app supports all the most common payment methods, for example operator billing and bank and credit cards.

“Our cloud-based app is a new generation mobile payment solution that makes it possible to move over from traditional tickets to dynamic ticketing services and products. With our technology it is easy and flexible to create new products and services. PayiQ Tickets has real-time fraud prevention and all data is handled strictly according to information security standards and regulations. Mobile app’s key benefits to customers are its easiness and simplicity – since everything can be handled with a mobile phone there is no longer use for different travel cards and their loading.” says Tuomo Parjanen, the CEO of PayiQ, the company that develops PayiQ Tickets.

PayiQ Tickets app can be used to buy ticket products outside of Lappeenranta too. The app already includes tickets for Lahti,JyväskyläTurku and Oulu public transport and more cities and routes are constantly added to the product selection.
