Starting from February the customers of Lahti Region Public Transport can pay for their bus rides with smart phones. Buying tickets with a smart phone application is easy, fast and secure.
Lahti introduced mobile tickets in a very fast schedule. “We wanted to offer our customers a new and fast alternative to paying with cash. Bank and credit cards are no longer valid payment methods in buses and our customers have requested for the possibility of mobile payment. At first the application can be used to buy single tickets and day tickets that are valid for 24 hours without restrictions. Mobile ticket makes traveling by bus easier especially for tourists and for people who use buses only occasionally.” tells Roope Ahola, Public transport planner at city of Lahti. The new mobile application supports all the most common payment methods: mobile payment, bank and credit cards, MobilePay and consolidated invoicing with Svea billing.
Lahti region public traffic’s app is free and available for Android and iOS phones.
“Lahti is the most recent Finnish city that has taken into use PayiQ’s cloud-based mobile ticketing solution. Our application makes it possible to move over from traditional tickets to dynamic ticketing services and products. Mobile tickets are a part of an international MaaS (Moblility as a Service) trend which aims at offering users an easy and safe way to combine different mobility modes and services with the help of new technologies. New technologies like Microsoft Azure open up unforeseen possibilities to combine different services and to create wholly new service concepts. With our technology adding new services is easy and flexible.” says Tuomo Parjanen, the CEO of PayiQ.
