PayiQ has provided Southwest Finland’s Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment with Seutu+ mobile app for buying season tickets for the regional traffic of Turku and the surrounding areas. At first, mobile season tickets for smart phones will be available but later on there will also be a travel card system.
From the beginning of February Seutu+ app can be used to buy a mobile season ticket that includes travels in Parainen, Paimio and Aura public transport routes and the tansfer and onward journeys in the Föli area. Season ticket is bought with a Seutu+ app that is free to download for the latest Android and iOS phones.
During the spring there will also be a travel card version of the season ticket. Seutu+ travel card can be obtained from service points and the card can be topped up via Seutu+ web site, that will be launched later in February, Seutu+ app and if necessary, at the service points. Service points will be located in Turku (Monitori Market Square and Skanssi), Paimio, Parainen and Aura.
“Seutu+ season product is a pilot project organized by the public transport authority of Southwest Finland’s Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. Travellers are offered a user friendly season product and at the same time the two travel card system is gradually abandoned. Earlier travellers had to separately obtain a Föli travel card from a service point by showing the receipt for topping up the regional travel card. This is no longer needed as Seutu+ is valid for both regional public transport and tansfer and onward journeys in the Föli region” says public transport project manager Markus Kivelä.
”We are very happy to deliver this new season product for Southwest Finland’s Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. It will surely make life easier for the end-users. Previously we have implemented integrations to other travel card systems but now we also have our own travel card backend. This is a new breakthrough for us that will hopefully expand in the future. In addition to the mobile app we also delivered a web user interface for topping up travel cards, that will be taken into use later this spring” tells Tuomo Parjanen, CEO of the company PayiQ that developed the Seutu+ app and travel card system.
