PayiQ Powers Pivo into Finland’s Biggest Transport Ticket App

What do you get when you combine two of the most disruptive technologies of our time, mobile payments and smart mobility, to optimally benefit the customer? You get transport tickets on Pivo powered by PayiQ. Pivo is the payment app launched by one of Finland’s biggest financial groups, OP. They teamed up with one of the world’s leading mobile ticketing platforms, PayiQ, to bring commuters a new convenient way to get their public transport tickets.

“Finnish people are really embracing mobile payment, and a large number of Pivo users are active commuters”, says Masa Peura, SVP of payments, accounts and personal finance management at OP. ”Buying the tickets directly in Pivo, they will have the tickets conveniently on their mobile phone at all times.”

Commuters can now use Pivo to buy bus tickets in as many as ten Finnish cities. Together the cities of Imatra, Hyvinkää, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Lahti, Lappeenranta, Mikkeli, Oulu and Riihimäki regions have nearly 890,000 residents. This makes Pivo Finland’s largest public transport ticket app.

”This is a brilliant example of how our PayiQ TaaS – Account Based Ticketing as a Service is used to the full. Our platform powers the app to be more than it was before by enabling new, customer-centric transport services”, says Tuomo Parjanen, CEO of PayiQ.

With Pivo, customers of all Finnish banks can transfer money to their friends based on just a phone number and pay purchases in almost 7,000 webshops and even order a pizza. Pivo has been downloaded more than a million times and it has hundreds of thousands of active users. Last year saw an increase of 280 per cent in the use of Pivo compared to the year before.

PayiQ is a fast-growing Finland-based smart ticketing company. It’s award-winning PayiQ TaaS® – Account Based Ticketing as a Service, is leading the way to a smarter, more efficient and more user-friendly world in transportation.
